USB+WLAN

My all PCI lots are reserved and I have to buy wlan adapter. I found that there is USB+WLAN adapters so I dont have to PCI card to get wireless wlan connection.

 

My question is:

 

How linux compatible are those USB+WLAN adapters?

 

Can you recommend some specific wlan+usb adapter for me that works with Mandriva?

Just been playing around with a Belkin F5D7050 802,11g USB adaptor - reasonably easy to get going with ndiswrapper. Haven't tested it for a great deal of time, but seems reliable enough connecting to both my home WLAN and the local towns wireless network.

I got great answers from finnish forum.

 

Ndiswrapper is just other crappy frontend that uses window$ binary. There is few really linux supported hardware.

Thats a little harsh, ndiswrapper is very good at what it does - it wouldn't be possible to use a great many wireless cards in linux without it.

 

I'd rather have real drivers, but ndiswrapper is a good alternative.
