harry000
Hi I need to know that what is the differnece between "Install software" & "Browse Installed Software" under System > Configuration > Packaging in Mandrake 10.1 Well, one have "Install" button disable. Is this the only differnce? And, do both list the installed software? Do "Install Software" lists only software that are not installed? And, why it did not hightlight, which software are insalled and which are not. Thanks
daniewicz
I am running 10.2 and my MCC uses different labeling than yours. But here is my guess: Browse Installed Software = software already installed can be viewed and uninstalled if desired. Install Software = install software
uralmasha
The two sets are exclusive. You can either see the software in the "browse installed" or in "install", but not in both. Entries that look similar may have e.g., different versions.
Dustpuppy
"Install software" is look at stuff you DON'T have. "Browse installed software" is look at stuff you DO have.

neddie
Hi all, I've got Mandriva LE2005, and I get _three_ options in the menu under Configuration- Packaging: Browse Available Software - lists what stuff I _don't_ have, but doesn't let me install them. Lets me see what's available without requiring a root password. Install Software - lists the same software as above, but lets me install them. Requires root password. Remove Software - shows what software is already installed, and lets me remove them. Requires root password. Seems a little strange to require root password just to see what's already installed, but not to see what could be installed, but anyway. Hope that cleared up some confusion?
