Jza
So I have domain name localhost and Mandrake keeps complaining that is not a valid name and that if I want to use the tools I need to change the name and readjust my hostname. I also have past experience that changing the hostname provides me conflicts with Gnome and also apache where localhost = 127.0.0.1 and I wonder if there is safe to just readjust it like that. Can anyone explain a way to do this without avoiding possible conflict.
Qchem
I found adding (or editing) a line similar to: 127.0.0.1 localhost newhostname in the /etc/hosts file works fine for me. However, this is on gentoo and not Mandriva but hopefully that shouldn't matter.

Putting that in hosts have caused problems ini the past for example the apache httpd stop working once I restart. I went through the apache configuration and solve it even thought it did it with some warnings about having DHCP setup.
