LeoK
I am quite new to Linux and want to know where I can find the main directory for Open Office. On Windows finding these sorts of directories was so much easier
ianw1974
A nice easy way to find is going into Packages and Remove Software. We won't actually remove anything, but you can single click OpenOffice on the list of installed apps, and if you choose Full Info, it will list the path to where it's installed. You may have to change the mode to All apps, so it displays each one line-by-line.
arctic
Application files are usually stored in the /usr/bin and /usr/share directories. Some apps will be found in /opt with certain distros (e.g. Slackware has KDE stored in /opt/kde).
