scarecrow
1. alt+F2 and then "gaim" should work- does it? 2. This is an xorg configuration problem, either keyboard related, or locales related, or both. Can you tell us your default locales and copypaste here your /etc/X11/xorg configuration file? (or just the parts of it related to keyboard settings).

Steve Scrimpshire
Open a console and type: which gaim and hit enter. It will tell you where it is.
SoulSe
You could also use menuconfig to update your menu and hopefully gaim will show up, otherwise add it yourself. -OR- set gaim to start whenever you login - that's what I do. theYinYeti
How did you install gaim? If you did so with the Mandriva control center, and you are curious about where the files are, the following command should give you the list: rpm -ql gaim Yves. dexter11
In Linux executables are usually installed to /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin, if you install from package of course.
