alt+F2 -> type kcontrol -> Peripherals -> Mouse -> General:

tick Single click to open files and folders

p.s. This topic is appropriate for the Software forum, not Installing Mandriva

Also this method advised by Solarian only applies when using KDE. In Gnome you have to do a bit of hunting. Maybe a Gnome user can come in here with the answer for Gnome. I have done it but cannot remember it since I rarely ever use it.

Cheers. John.

quite simple, john. in the menu-bar, click on system (or open the gnome control center) ? file-management. then go to the tab "behavior" and check the first box.

Thanks Arctic. I remember that routine now that you have outlined it.

My question was mainly for others who might need the info and now thanks to you they have it.

Cheers mate. John.
