amjidk
Hello all, I'm new to linux and am planning to use it as a proxy server in an internet cafe which a friend and i are to setup, here in the uk. I would ideally require the pages to be cached (as to improve performance) and also limit bandwith equally between all the users. I have read a little about squid etc but am not sure how i go about setting it up in mandriva and also is there any other free software that i could use to control the bandwidth and possibly the content as well?? Also have do i go about installing it in mandriva?? Mohammed Khan Edited June 11, 2005 by amjidk
devries
http://www.mandriva.ie/documentation/Proxy_Server.html Install: pop in the cd and reboot. Follow the instructions. :)
amjidk
Thanks for that, i have installed squid but cannot get it to work. i.e. don't know how to get to the configuration menu shown in the tutorial. (i have no internet connection on the computer which i have installed mandriva, could that be the reason why it fails to start) i went to the services menu and tried to start it but it just fails.
