Been Googling all day.

So I thought I might post here. (cant hurt right)....heh

I tryed gqcam but got this:

[ziggy@Ziggy ~]$ gqcam
/dev/video: No such file or directory
[ziggy@Ziggy ~]$ su
Password:
[root@Ziggy ziggy]# gqcam
/dev/video: No such file or directory
[root@Ziggy ziggy]#

Anybody got an idea what that means?????

Tryed just about everything I can think of, which I think is rather limited..... :D :D

Also tryed qc-usb, spca5xx........

I am wide open to new things to try.....:D

Are you trying to get your cam working? If that is what you want you need a driver (called module in linux) that supports your cam. Mandriva (or better, the Mandriva kernel) comes with most drivers so all you have to do is plugin the cam for it to work.

Th error you're getting means you haven't installed gqcam. Mandriva uses urpmi to install software so first you have to do is (as root): urpmi gqcam. Then you can run the program.

If you want to chat with your cam there is gnomemeeting (like netmeeting) and mercury (like msn). Note: Mercury doesn't install with urpmi. Read the instructions on the site www.mercury.to

Have fun.

I installed gqcam via MCC.

Perhaps it's my install, things have been a little screwy this time around........

(still trying to get digi cam and scanner working, but not a real high priority)

I also dloaded the source for gqcam, and both user and root errors.

GTK+ is installed.

I dont know, oh well....... :D :D
