Greetings,

I have MDK 9.0 connected to my Win2k network and I can ping the default gateway of my firewall and I can ping the server; however I can't go out to the internet. The internet connection is a cable modem that is connected to the router along with the firewall and all other clients.

Here's some info:

1) linux box has a static IP of 192.168.168.60

2) Sonicwall is setup as the default gateway at 192.168.168.1

3) Win2K is 192.168.168.3

4) The server is setup as the DNS

5) Mandrake's Internet Connection Configuration is set to:

Connection Type = Lan

Gateway 192.168.168.1

What am I missing? This is my first attempt to connect a linux box to a MS server and to make an internet connect from Linux.

TIA,

Jim

Steve,

Thanks for the quick reply, all is working now, but I'm not sure why. I re-installed MDK 9.0. I also turned set in my BIOS PnP OS=No, but I don't think this should have made any difference at all.

Any ideas, or is this simply a quirk?

Jim

Do you have Shorewall running?

Shorewall is the firewall that ships with LM9.0.

You might have to shut it down in order for you to connect.

Also, you may have to set the gateway on the Linux box to that of the server, since it is connected to that.

In my network, all machines (Linux, Win2K and MacOS9) are connected to a hub and then to my Linux box (dual NICs), which is the router to a cable modem.
