KDM will not start [solved]

I just reinstalled Mandriva 2005 from scratch.

- installed 2005LE without anything selected, only the basic console tools

- configured network and added all urpmi sources including Thac's

- installed KDEBase

- installed all other KDE tools up 'till a full install

- installed other software.

Everything works great except for the login prompt, the system boots directly to a basic X with only a windows and logged in with my account. From there I can do ALT+F1 to go into console and SU + KDM which will give me the logon prompt.

How can I make KDM start immediatly ?

I checked in the MCC and KDM is selected instead of XDM but still :help:

Otherwise the system has never been as good a now, clean, stable and fast :afro:

i must admit that i have no real idea about what works on the kde 3.4 rpms and which packages are faulty, but i do think to remember that the kdm was an issue for several people in here. (too lazy to use the search tool now... i know... what a shame. :P).

i would simply suggest (in case that you don't want to hack your files a lot) to use another login manager like gdm while the kdm package still has some errors. gdm is equally good and looks nice, too.
