kompact
Just plugged in my dig cam and to my surprise it was picked up right away and let me save my pics to disk. When I open the folder it shows a bunch of thumbnails, when I open a pic up it shows that pic but I dont see a button to advance to the next pic, do a slideshow etc as I am used to in XP. Is there an applicable app that will let me do that?

theYinYeti
Well... I did not know. I do not use, do not need, and do not care about animated GIFs. Actually, I don't use GIF files at all. Sorry, I don't know what can be used in Gnome for animated GIFs... Yves.
iphitus
I dont use gif files at all, but when i do have to view the occassional one i pull it up in firefox. I think there is a thumnail viewer extension for FF, I dont know whether it is still updated tho.
Gowator
i like gqview as well but it doesnt support animated gifs. what do you use for those? ciao! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> also animated gif's are ...well animated...you don't tend to ant to view them like a set of photo's ?? Hence firefox is fine (IMHO) kuickshow is one of my favorites with the full screen
ramfree17
i wish but some of my friends are so *ecstatic* in creating gif images. firefox is too cumbersome for viewing directories that contain a couple of animated gifs. ciao!
adamw
I'm rapidly becoming an f-spot fan, it has an excellent design.
Crashdamage
I've used Danpei for a long time. Sorta similar to CompuPic, but better - the Linux version of CompuPic is pretty lame. Not included with Mandrake, but you can get a rpm that installs fine.
