djc_slip
hey... trying to remember this, but.. use your install dvd and choose repair (i think) this gets you to a repair gui screen. There is an option that gets you into the command line. Once this is done - look through the file system (go through /mnt directory - and you should see your hda or hdb - whatever you installed linux to. from there you can vi /etc/lilo.conf and make you changes - for example: image=/boot/vmlinuz label="linux" root=/dev/hdb1 initrd=/boot/initrd.img append="noapic resume=/dev/hdb5 splash=silent" vga=788 read-only make changes, save, go back to repair-gui and reboot - i think... - (not been using linux too long - but this kinda makes sense.) djc_slip
thought it was the acpi causing problems? make sure you remove acpi=ht (if you have it)
AleXxiO
tell me how (in lilo? no there is not acpi=ht)...dunno what it is...when i start kde (at 40%) it says "stopping task" and "goind into suspend mode... djc_slip
hmm - i'm kinda getting outta my depth - but for no kde perhaps you can edit /etc/inittab and set the default run level to 3 - at least you'll have a full system - but no gui this was solved by moving the kcmlaptoprc from root/.kde/share/config to /home/user/.kde/share/config Edited April 29, 2005 by djc_slip
