kristi
I have had super results with my shuttle AN35N mobo, nforce chipset, and mobo sound (which I think is a realtec chip. KMix works beautifully, and xine, Mplayer, Kaffeine, and anything else I have tried seems to work just fine. I went up to a language site and clicked on some sounds - a small mp3 downloads and then something tried to play it, but I only get the last little bit of the sound. i tried setting mp3 to amrock, audacity, etc, but nothing seemed to change it at all. (If I use say audacity to play the mp3 in temp, it plays fine.) Any tips? tia!!! Kristi
devries
What language site is that? I tried: http://www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/dictionary?book...va=test&x=7&y=9 but it plays wavs and not mp3 and works perfectly fine. Do you have a plugin installed (mplayerplug-in or mozplugger)? Else try that.

devries
My guess would be that firefox isn't finding the plugin. Look for these 2 files (updatedb (as root) and locate):mplayerplug-in.so and mplayerplug-in.xpt. Copy these files to /home/your name/.mozilla/plugins (that's were I have them) and try again. I did inadvertantly get it to work perfectly with realplayer. not sure how so I am going to try to undo everything realplayerish and install it again, because I have realplayer in 2 places - it should be in user/local, I think but I also have in in firefox/plugins - I know how that happened. and I did have to go ahead and allow the bad signature thing and yes, it caused no probs. Kristi <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah (wound up doing a full install since my trash had been trashed I installed RealPlayer (please understand that realplayer is against my religion) - I think I got an rpm from real. it installed to /use/local . I forgor to clear out the plugins in user/.mozilla (sorry, so all I really know is while the mplayer plugins are in there, it won't work, but if the two rp plugins are there AND I go into edit preferenced and douple click mp3 and RE-choose /usr/loca/lrealplayer or whatever, then when I click on one of those letters, a little RP player pops up and plays it - good fidelity. So Thanks!!! Kristi (off to do easyurpmi and about 253 cooker updates Edited April 27, 2005 by kristi
devries
Well that explains why mplayerplug-in won't play. Mp3 is associated with realplayer :). There is n need to associate anything. It works auto magically. Test it with wav files, or wmv etcetc.

devries
Plays fine here. Perhaps you need to adjust the player settings (lower left corner of the play window) and choose wmv.

devries
If you have installed the win32 codecs (they are in plf) wmv files play in linux.

At leaset RP asks for the RP program, even though it's already there. humph
