AussieJohn
I am using a Laser brand 2 port kvm myself and a Logitech Dual laser Mouse and I have never ever had troubles. Remember my comment about windows was described by myself as a poor analogy. It was not about windows. Also I said that a later Mandrake was likely to solve the problem, I did not say It would solve the problem. I think the problem is with the kvm anyhow. John. Gowator
SoulSe?... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sorry, that wasn't phunni! Anyway...problem? Im not sure you define it as such... take a mouse out of windows and it hangs... linux works differently and polls so unlwess the kvm is marked linux compatible it might not work... but its hard to say its the fauly of lionux or the kvm .. (except you'd think kvm manufactuerers would be more linux compatible... I guess they are just stupid... anyhow someone said use ssh... I have to say I am over impressed with nx.... (in urpmi I think)
phunni
I agree that the problem is ulitmately with the KVM in that other brands of switch may well work without problems. But the reason this happens is because of how mice are controlled/accessed/polled in the kernel or something like that. So the solutions are: 1) Buy a new KVM 2) Wait for a kernel fix 3) try unplugging the mouse and plugging it back in My KVM switch claims to be linux compatible - but I get this problem. Windows doesn't handle it perfectly either but recovers quickly on it's own after only a second of weirdness.
ChrisM
I know its not a 4 port, but I recently bought a Linksys 'Integrated KVM 2-port switch' and it works absolutely dandy with my wheelmouse. Got it from Amazon pretty cheap - plug it in and away you go. I have it working across mdk10.1/ubuntu/ ( and just very temporarily on a WinME box too :woops:  ) Edited April 18, 2005 by ChrisM
