Guest GoodVillain
Everytime I load up Mandrake its in a command line mode. How do I get it to go into graphical mode such as graphical login/desktop. (I want to do this without reinstalling.) Thanks.
aioshin
as root try to edit #/etc/inittab if you can see the entry below # id:5:initdefault: # System initialization id:5 refers to GUI id:3 refers to console so if yours is 3, you may change it to 5 edit: assuming you've installed X and kde or gnome Edited March 11, 2005 by aioshin
scoopy
Either type in startx or while still at the command line... XFdrake There is a selection there for options where you can choose to automatically start up the GUI and its login box.

Guest GoodVillain
Its not working properly. X is giving back errors, even though I installed all the GUI packages. Auth also seems to be slightly broken by only allowing me to login at random times. I just assumed the installation went bad. I never had such a problem with Mandrake before so thats all I can assume. Ill restart from scratch.
