Firefox,RealPlayer and $PATH - problems installing

Hi all,

I know this is a frequently posted issue, I guess I'm feeling somewhat hopelessly confused today :(

I've installed Man 10.0 before, and Firefox and RealPlayer and not had any problems. I'm not sure what I'm NOT doing this time.

(I'm sending this from another machine so cannot remember the details exactly, but the following is pretty close)

I installed the latest Ffox at /home/patrick/programs/firefox-installer/firefox

Realplayer at /home/patrick/programs/RealPlayer/realplay

(realplayer is the GOLD 10 bin file)

Realplayer seems to work fine if I activate it from the command line or its icon, Firefox works fine too)

Everything seemed to install fine.

I've copied over the two nphelix files to the firefox plugins, I just cannot work out what to do next. As I said, I've done it before but I just cannot work this out today.

Is it 'echo $PATH' then if I get something like '/usr/X11R6/bin'

I should go:

'ln -s /home/patrick/programs/RealPlayer/realplay' ?????

I know that this is tedious and I'm very sorry for that (and embarrassed - I feel like I'm losing the little Linux knowledge I do know), but I would appreciate some assistance with this.

Thanks for any assistance provided.

Just done this

I didn't copy the nphelix file but just did a symbolic link in the firefox plugins directory..hmm

ln-s home/blahblah/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.so

ln-s home/blahblah/RealPlayer/mozilla/nphelix.xpt

worked a treat :) Not sure if the xpt link is necessary, but did it anyway :)
