inflexion
right swapping my modem all the time is getting too much now. this is the Router that im looking at. This will work i know, normal cat5 cable to two machines upstairs thats the winblows machines sorted :) now this is the tricky part, can i add a wireless node to this with out one of the machines been on all the time? Ill worry about getting it physically connected and secure in MDK after i know its possible :P
Qchem
I've got an earlier model of the same router - it's a bargain (although I've had poor customer service from ebuyer in the past). You will be able to attach a wireless access point to the router with a standard cat5 cable and not need any machines on. If you do go for that router, an excellent site for help is the adsltech forum.
inflexion
thanks :) ive read the reviews on the ebuyer site and saw the adsltech forums for the F/W update if you need it. Any ideas about the wireless access point though? will anyold one do, got a nice Linksys PCMICA card for the laptop so go for another linksys job?? Qchem
I don't actually own an access point so it's hard for me to give recommendations of brands. Just ensure it has a web based configuration, and probably more than one wired net port would be good - just in case ;)
inflexion
Thanks :) been looking at a linksys one which is also the cheapest so i think i might invest in one of those ta
