Gayle
I have recently noticed strange files appearing on several of my zip disks. Could this be a virus? Or is my zip drive getting ready to die? Running Mandrake Linux 9.1.
Steve Scrimpshire
That looks to me like failing hardware. Maybe you're lucky and it's just the disk that is doing it. Do you hear the 'click of death' on the drive? If you have a Windows install, you can download a free utility called "Trouble in Paradise" (tip.exe) from here that can diagnose it: http://grc.com/tip/codfaq1.htm and read more about the click of death. Gayle
Thanks for the answer. I haven't heard any clicks from the drive- but the files did appear on several disks. I think I'll back up all the files from my zip disks to cdrws!
