Guest shaneomac
On MDK 10.1 with a realtek modem, rtl-8139. When I boot up my machine, everything starts fine. It seems that I can let the connection sit idly for an arbitrarily large amount of time and everything is fine. But, once I try to do something that takes up a lot of bandwidth, say urpmi, the connection crashes. Mandrake still says that it's connected, but I can't send or recieve anything--that is I can't ping other computers on my lan, or obviously anywhere else. And to get eth0 back up, I have to restart the computer. Thanks. Shane
devries
Doesn't sound like a software problem. Check your cables, networkcard etcetc.
Guest shaneomac
I'm pretty sure it's not a hardware issue. I had no such problems with Fedora Core 3 RC 1 before I installed MDK. Also, I have no such problems now running knoppix live cd. It also worked fine with MDK 10.0, but that was several months ago. So, this appears, to me, to be an issue specific to MDK 10.1. durvish
I'm not at my Mandrake box right now but I think there is a log that records your network activity? Check it and see if it is spitting out any strange errors. Or maybe I just spent to much time behind the welder today and I'm getting goffy!
