Guest NeueZiel
Ahem... This error occurs right after diskdrake (or whatever the partitioner in the install is), but before I get the chance to install packages (it DOES finish the partitioning and say "Searching for available packages." however) " An error occured Nothing found while parsing /mnt/var/lib/urpmi/hdlist.Installation CD 2 (x86) (cdrom2).cz." I'm going through Reccomended Install (but trying any other install mode results in the same). Any help would be appreciated, as MandrakeExpert is 100% USELESS help-wise, and I can't get any real help on the mailing lists... Thanks!! chef_kunal
why dont you check the md5 sums for your cds? there are a number of articles here on how to do this. Then if your cds are ok you can plan your next action.
Guest NeueZiel
They're retail.. so I know they're fine.
chef_kunal
well you could still check them. You could be the one guy who got bad cds??.....
chef_kunal
one other thing you could do..... this should definetly work.. do an expert install. Then when it asks you what cds you got just say no to the second two cds. See if the install goes smoothly then. also any packages you can install from the other two cds later when you have a running system by adding them to your urpmi sources. Think thatll work? Guest NeueZiel
What CDs I have? I haven't ever seen that prompt. EDIT: Alright, checked the manual, that prompt doesn't get a chance to come up. And I'll check the CDs and post back when it's done... ANOTHER EDIT: Checksums=good, and on the subject of the CDs, I've tried switching my CD-RW drive (40x12x40x) to a 40x CD-ROM drive, with no result besides it hanging at that point longer. Also tried switching the IDE ribbon, since I've seen posts about doing that fixing things... nope, no effect there either. Any idea about what I should do now? Cannonfodder
Some ideas are to post your hardware configuration. Also, can you get a minimal install completed by just using cd1? I would have suggested the checksum also because of the message "parsing" and the reference to the cd file that contains a list of files on the cd. Guest NeueZiel
Primary Master: 40x12x40x CD-RW (OR 40x CD-ROM) Primary Slave: None Secondary Master: 10 GB 5400 RPM Seagate HD Secondary Slave: None Boot Device order: CD Drive Floppy Drive HDD Any other devices Cannonfodder: Look here... What CDs I have? I haven't ever seen that prompt. EDIT: Alright, checked the manual, that prompt doesn't get a chance to come up. Any additional help would be appreciated, and the rest of my hardware's in my sig... Thanks!
chef_kunal
try this. 1. connect the hardrive as master on the irst ide channel 2. connect the cdrw as master on the second ide chqannel the prompt What CDs I have? I haven't ever seen that prompt.EDIT: Alright, checked the manual, that prompt doesn't get a chance to come up. will only come up if you choose an exper rther than recommended install right at the start of the instaqll. hope this helps
Guest NeueZiel
Nope, even under Expert that prompt does not come up... Is there some way to pass to the kernel before install to ignore CD 2 and 3 for the install? Because that prompt you mention (CDs), the guide says will not come up until AFTER the step I'm on... I'll switch the HD and CD-RW to see if that helps... EDIT: Nope, switching them had no effect -- same problem keeps coming. Thanks for any help! RedTurtle
I had this same exact problem with 8.2, also retail cds and i never was able to solve it until i got new cds. :(
ramfree17
retail cd != perfect md5sum use this code to check the md5sum of your cd cat /dev/cdrom | md5sum >> test.md5 but im afraid you will have to find a *nix system to do that. maybe one of those floppy based linux distros can be useful. and change cdrom to whatever device block corresponding to the drive containing the cd. ciao!
