arctic
it is quite probable that the firewall is blocking the traffic. disable the firewall while you set up the mirrors or open some ports.

chris z
also could be that particular mirror is down or swamped. have you tried different mirrors? Chris

AussieJohn
Go into Mandrake Control Centre.........Security.........Firewall and put a tick (USA = check) in the box titled ........FTP Server then click OK. Now you should be able to connect to those urpmi sites. Cheers. John.
yellowchicken
oh but Mandrake Control Centre.........Security.........Firewall It said: Which service would you like to allow the Internet to connect to? Everything (no firewall) ticked I think it's not my firewall but the University's one, I'm using Internet from my University network. ... But since I can access HTTP way and download the rpm files, I think I can manually install what I need right? durvish
No need to download and manually install if you don't wan't to. Use the urpmi command in console or for a GUI use MCC
