Guest JaseP
Is anyone building rpm binary packages for Linux ports for the following games???: Freespace 2 Freespace (built off the source for FS2) Star Control 2 trying to re-compile the games is a pain... ...and I simply do not have the time. Any help out there?
DOlson
Star Control 2 comes with a binary, last I checked. I have an RPM for Freespace somewhere, but I don't know if it works with Mandrake 9.
MadHattr
is star control any good?
Guest JaseP
Star Control 2 is a classic, not a graphics intensive game, since it was from the early 90s, but good nonetheless. Actually, if someone would make source RPMs (SRPMs), that would be great, since they could be re-compiled easily for any Linux installation. I would do it, but I really don't know how or what tools I need to do it. I don't have the real estate on my website to host them either. DOlson
I can't do SC2, since it's so big... >100MB But I'm working on new RPMs/tutorials for FreeSpace and AVP. Yes, I talked to relnev, and he helped me fix the stupid problems I had.

DragonMage
How long does it take for a >100 MB source rpm to compile in say.. a 1 ghz athlon? If it takes only a few hours, I think it's going to be worth it.. I don't want to search for a dos emulator just to play classic games (besides, win2k just sux for playing old dos games). If you've got a 100MB SRPM, I feel sorry for you. I don't know how to make SRPMs, else I would. Honestly though, SC2 isn't hard to get working. Just read the README. I don't think I even had to compile anything.
