vash795
I have 2 drives, one with Windows XP and the other a fresh install of mandrake 10. After installing mandrake and using it for about 20 minutes, I restarted my computer to switch to my windows drive. I went into my Bios and set my windows drive to boot first. When it went to boot that drive, about 30 rows of 10 10 10 10 10 and thats all it does. I then tried to repair with my windows cd but shortly after, I get a blue screen error that gives no option except to reset.. So now I have no windows, mandrake wont load the gui, just the dos like prompt. What do I do?
Lowe
Use the mandrake disk 1. And when it loads up press F1 then type rescue and install the bootloader again. Edited September 2, 2004 by Lowe
vash795
ok now windows comes up thanks! Now how do I switch back to mandrake?
Lowe
Well you could go back into rescue mode and install the other bootloader (think it's called lilo)

Lowe
If you install the correct bootloader. Yes you will be able to, for example. Linux Win XP Edited September 2, 2004 by Lowe

Lowe
Hmm im not to sure about that, never came across that problem, im sure one of the others will help you. I have only been using linux for 2-3 weeks now ;)
devries
You don't need to go in the bios. Just use the bootloader. Turn back everything like it was when you installed Mandrake, switch on the PC, wait for the lilo boot screen, choose the OS you want to use and that's it. Good luck
vash795
ok, how can I test to see if I properly installed the drivers for my Nvidia graphics card?
devries
Type glxinfo. If you see NVIDIA corporation mentioned a lot you have installed it. :) Or use the nvidia-settings tool or look in your XF86Config-4 or .... Well this should be enough. Good luck
vash795
When I type glxinfo i get: [root@localhost jared]# glxinfo name of display: :0.0 Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0". devries
Well it looks like it isn't installed. However it could also be an error in your /etc/X11/XF86Config-4. (load "glx" is missing in the modules section) Good luck :) (PS don't run glxinfo as root. The segfault (crash means that glxinfo is crashing konsole, it's probably a bug, don't worry about it) Edited September 2, 2004 by devries

spiedra
You XF86Config file should like similar to this: # File generated by XFdrake. # ********************************************************************** # Refer to the XF86Config man page for details about the format of # this file. # ********************************************************************** Section "Files" # Multiple FontPath entries are allowed (they are concatenated together) # By default, Mandrake 6.0 and later now use a font server independent of # the X server to render fonts.
