ok got that problem fixed thanks. How do I format the drive when windows cant see it?

how do I get rid of mandrake without messing up my windows boot? If I format that drive or remove it, windows doesnt boot up.

Its the error that says it needs to make its own kernel because it cant find one online, yes I was connected to the net.

I downloaded kernel-source-2.6.3-7mdk and installed it. I was unable to locate KDE control panel to verify it though. Same error about not finding the source and it cant install the drivers.

I have no idea what version I have but I searched in software package install thing and found: Name: kernel-source-stripped Version: 2.6.3-16mdk Size: 57330 KB is this what I nead?

Anyone?

I wanted to try and reinstall the drivers but now it says that I dont have a kernel or something and that it can make one for me. It tries but it says unable to download one please visit some website.

All 120 updates are installed, all errors and crashes are gone. Bad news is using the meathod konsole-kwrite-reboot isnt working... File stays the same and a new file with the ~ apears. its 2:20 in the morning im going to bed...

still not saving properly... I edit it using the meathod I said before, go into mandrake and its not changed. I can edit it, reboot and go into linux and its still changed the way I made it but as soon as I go into mandrake its goes back to default. Its as though mandrake is changing it back to origional.

If I boot into linux the file has changed yet glxgears doesnt work. In mandrake I open a terminal and I seen the file hasnt changed at all... I dont know if this is related but the following programs crash on startup and shut down: Korgal, ksmserver, Kicker, Ksplash, Kcminit. I get a crash handler window that comes up.

[O]pen Read-Only, (E)dit anyway, (R)ecover, (Q)uit, (D)elete it: I edit it and reboot. and the file is still the same...

Did I do it correctly?

The exact steps I took are: Open Terminal Program Type su Type password Type init 3 Type su Type password Type vi /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 Type i edit the lines Hit ESC Type :x Type reboot and come back into mandrake.

Im up to the point where you need to edit that file with vi. It says to make sure that Driver "glx" is under module but mine has a few # before the Driver "glx" should I remove them? Also everytime I edit then hit esc then :wq the file doesnt save... I go back in to check it and all the stuff I did is back to origional.
