LinuxMWB
Booted my MDK10 box and screen flickered and X failed to load. Said 'no usable screen'.. worked lastnight.. did no updates, nothing... did reinitialize my network with static IP, but that should have no effect on video.. anyhoo, tried reinstalling the driver... 'no kernel configuration' error and install fails.. WTF??? I know, wierd... ANY help would be grand. Also, I backed up my XF86Config-4 file a month or so back when I first got the dual displayes to work. I copied the known good one over the one being used with No joy. Thanks a million... Atleast I've a place to start when I get home.. I was beating my head... Also, I am having a router issue.. Linksys wireless w/Comcast..... modem direct, internet aok... got three hardwired, and one wireless ALL on the net lastnight.. this morning, only ONE hardwired machine had net.. rebooted both router/cable, no joy, now NONE on the net... Direct connect is aok... this seemed to start when I did a firmware update on the router, however Linksys denies any other people complaining... OS's are MDK 10, PCLinux Preview 7, MEPIS, and wireless XP Thanks again for your help.
liquidzoo
There should be a new topic about this, but let me guess about the router: Linksys BEFW11S4? If so, I had a very similar problem. Unplug the router for a few hours then plug it back in. Worked for me.

I left it unplugged this morning before work.. I'll give it a whirl tonight.. Thanks again. LinuxMWB

Seriously, though; I know of 3 people now who have experienced the same problem with the newest firmware update for that particular router. Seriously, though; I know of 3 people now who have experienced the same problem with the newest firmware update for that particular router. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ALL IS AOK!!!! XFdrake, did not work. However I remember that; in a drunken haze, that when I did an UPDATE I checked the 'all' box.... it installed a new kernel source... ooppss.. I did a uname -a and URPI'd the PROPER source.... Reinstalled nVidia driver, copied my saved XF86Config-4.. ALL AOK!!! Router.. Two machines; MDK10 and MEPIS, aok... I had to set static IP's for the PCLinux and XP boxes.. Using the DNS and gateway's of the self configured for my static settings, and now all 4 boxes are on the net.... Even rebooted the entire network, routers and PC's.. All came back AOK!! Thanks for your prompt, professional help.. LinuxMWB
