jlc
Just seeing how many testers are there. I had a box running "test" through yum, but decided to do a clean install and see how she runs. My initial impressions are "faster feel" that fc2 is. Clean look like rh/fedora has always had. just did a "yum update" and there are 60+ updates so we'll see how she moves. I have SELinux set on "WARN' that way it doesn't break anything and only shows errors for if I had it turned on.
tyme
downloaded the DVD iso yesterday, didn't get around to burning it. Will do that on Sunday and install Sunday night (I'm going away for the weekend).

FX
Ah, ok, good. I was just wondering because I know how many times you have expressed your LOVE for Redhat/Fedora to me in #musb. ;) FX
Qchem
I didn't really see the point in having a test of this, aren't they going to replace gnome, the kernel etc with newer releases before final? Besides its only really for people wanting to report bugs, isn't it...
tyme
Ah, ok, good. I was just wondering because I know how many times you have expressed your LOVE for Redhat/Fedora to me in #musb. ;) Yes, I don't particularly like Redhat/Fedora, but if I don't try it every once in a while then any opinions I have would be baseless. There's no Linux distribution that I won't give a second chance....or third...or fourth....
colnago
I tried it. Nothing to note, except a few multi-second hangs for no apparent reason. No install issues though. I really cannot go back to redhat/fedora with the built in difficulty in getting mp3's to work in kde/gnome.

Qchem
As you can see, adding mp3 support isn't all that bad. Indeed, ESR has even wrote a HOWTO covering the subject.

jlc
Keep in mind it is BETA, the first one at that, so if your looking to run a smooth box, just do fc2/mdk10/suse9.1 or a lot of there stable releases. 8)
Guest digitalsuperman
hey tyme... of all the distro's that you tried to use and tested.. which one would you recommend to anyone who wants to use linux as their OS?? which do you prefer? arctic
of all the distro's that you tried to use and tested..which one would you recommend to anyone who wants to use linux as their OS?? which do you prefer? old question with as many answers as there are linux distros. it depends on what the end-user wants to do and on his overall computing (and linux) knowledge. so, you have to be more precise with what you define as "use linux as their OS". :D
