Sherpa Posted July 2, 2004 Author Report Share Posted July 2, 2004 this is a pic of kde's screensaver thing, notice the area where it says "Start screensaver automatically" then it has a box on the second line "After 5 min" so this means that after 5 mins of the keyboard or the mouse not being touched, the screensaver will come on... Pressing the lock button will blank the screen immediately, and you have to have a password to get back to your desktop. aperahama Posted July 6, 2004 Report Share Posted July 6, 2004 I use xscreensaver and have for several years. I have a file in my home directory "~.kde/Autostart/start-xscreensaver.sh". Make sure it is executable , mine is rwxrwxr_x. This file contains one line "xscreensaver -nosplash" (without the quote marks). Disable the screensaver in kde and you should be in business, it starts with KDE. I use the run command (Alt-F2) xscreensaver-demo to set preferences.
