What is the best file-manager?

I would like to know what file managers everyone uses and why.

Please don't say 'CLI' - we all know how l33t you are.

Nautilus isn't doing it for me and I don't use KDE. So I'm looking for something solid, that integrates nicely into Gnome, so obviously gtk would be the way to go...

why don't you share what sort of features you're looking for.

are you using browser nautilus or spatial nautilus? need more info, brother SoulSe!

have you tried ROX-Filer? I'm not sure if it's gtk2 or just gtk...can't remember.

Give emelfm (gtk) and emelfm2 (gtk2) a shot. They "feel" similar to Midnight Commander, and are quite handy indeed.

what is nautilus not doing for you?

Since installing FC2 I've been giving spatial nautilus a chance and I'm finding that it is very nice for a lot of things but I still miss some of the old ways. BUT, I can open both and do it all.

Try the nautilus scripts?

I haven't in 2.6, but it might be something to look into.

Other than that, there's good old, ugly, gtk1.2 Endeavour

:juggle:

I might also add that for the first time I think nautilus blows away konq :P JMO though

velocity is another gnome-filemanager. I haven't used it yet and their website seems to be taken away, but the project is still active I read and I hope they can get their site back (their site on sourceforge was given to another project).
