papaschtroumpf
Is there software I could use to browse pictures? I'd like to just use a previous/next picture button or key to navigate them.
SoulSe
Nautilus has this feature. You just change the view settings (there are lots of cool options, one of them allows you to view photo galleries).
feralertx
Try kuickshow, you move to previous/next picture with the mouse wheel, i was looking for something like that just like you till i found this one, simple but effective.
Gowator
if your using KDe then quickview is good also a konqueror if you set it to view pictures shows them as thumbnails and an extension for konquerer (extras) lets you make a index.html of a directory of images ... oops I mean kuickshow Edited June 24, 2004 by Gowator
Qchem
I like gthumb for this kind of thing
AussieJohn
I have found GQVIEW to be the best even though I solely use KDE as my GUI and mostly KDE applications. To move to each picture in turn it is only necessary to left click on the Picture or you can set it up as a SlideShow and you can even do some image maniputation as well. Cheers. John. papaschtroumpf
Thanks, I'll give both GQVIEW and kuickshow a try. I really wish this was built in Konqueror. I knwo I can see thumbs but the whole point of what I'm trying to do is to move between pictures with a single click or keystroke. Thanks for the answers. illogic-al
gwenview. integrates with konqueror once installed as well.
papaschtroumpf
That looks good except that there is no mdk10 release in the "Stable" section. Just mdk9.
illogic-al
you have to add contrib sources to urpmi (instructions in the forums FAQ section) and then urpmi gwenview Contribs has loads of free software, kde/gnome themes, icons etc. You may never need to compile again :D
papaschtroumpf
How stable is the contrib repository? In the past I've had issues with instaling apps that were too "bleeding edge" that made me upgrade to the latest glibc or whatever and ended up breaking dependencies on other packages. Maybe it was all operator error but I eventually had to re0install from scratch (fortunately the next version of Mandrake had just come out as an incentive to re-install).
