Guest coren
Hello everybody, and please forgive my bad English :) I installed the mdk 10 oe, and everything went well (as usual from the 9.0 on :D), but I found a little annoyance with ALSA and my SB Live (driver: snd-emu10k1). Well, when I listen to music (mp3, cd-audio), the audio seems to be distorted, quite like when you try to force a volume too high on cheap speakers, but I'm not doing this  I tried to lower the volume from alsamix or kmix, and then lower it from the speakers, but it didn't made a difference.. even at low volume the sound is distorted. I had the same problem using other mdk distros, and I always fixed it by using the OSS driver (emu10k1), that works well at any volume I was just wondering what's the problem with alsa, and if there's a way to make it work properly, because on other PCs I had quite the impression that ALSA has a better soud quality than OSS... is it right, or was it just a bad impression? Thanks in advance for the possible answers.
zero0w
Reduce the value of Bass and Treble in Kmix.

GodFlesh
i use a sblive without troubles. first be sure to use alsa in kde settings. then try to disable recording in kmix advanced.
zero0w
Mine is working fine too after the Treble and Bass volume are reduced to a lower level.
illogic-al
are you using xmms to play these files? if so go to Preferences > Output Plugin > ALSA then click on the Configure/Preferences button. Then go to the Advanced settings tab and uncheck MMAP mode
