Steve Scrimpshire
I don't recall which kernel killed this, but I never had this problem before. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and I'm using a USB mouse instead of the touchpad. Each reboot I have to run mousedrake and set the mouse back to Microsoft Explorer. When I do this, however, it gives me this error in the console I am running it from: FATAL: Module mousedev not found.FATAL: Module mousedev not found. and defaults back to "Universal -> Any PS/2 & USB mice". The mouse, however, works until I reboot. Any thoughts? kernel: 2.6.3-13mdk-i686-up-4GB XFree86 -version: Release Date: 18 December 2003X Protocol Version 11, Revision 0, Release 6.7 Build Operating System: Linux 2.6.7-0.rc1.1mdkenterprise i686 [ELF] Current Operating System: Linux localhost 2.6.3-13mdk-i686-up-4GB #1 Tue May 18 15:50:58 EDT 2004 i686 Build Date: 08 June 2004 Before reporting problems, check http://wiki.X.Org to make sure that you have the latest version. Module Loader present I can restart X after enabling the mouse with no problems, but as soon as I reboot, I have to do it all again. bvc
put mousedev in /etc/modprobe.preload
Steve Scrimpshire
Didn't work. Still got the "FATAL: module mousedev not found". After trial and error (looking at lsmod before and after running mousedrake), I discovered that I needed to add ohci-hcd to /etc/modprobe.preload. Before I did this, I had already added usbmouse there, so I'm not sure if I need both there, but I know that I need ohci-hcd there, because it won't work with usbmouse and not ohci-hcd.
