Ronin
Heh, here we go again. ;-) You could add yourself to I believe the wheel group which will give you more rights. But why not just run the correct and accepted way? You run your day to day use with your user account and when you need root access you open a term, type su, then the root password and anything opened from that term will be run as root. spinynorman
If you want to access files, you can also use the Applications menu, select File Tools and then File Manager - Super User Mode. Enter the root password and away you go... B)

spinynorman
no i saw it, just didn't completely understand that anyting new opnened would have root priveliges. At the command line, you have admin privileges from when you su to root until you type 'exit' or leave that terminal. With the File Manager - Super User mode, you have admin privileges within that file manager window only... :) If you need to reconfigure your machine, you can use the Mandrake Control Centre. Once you've entered your root password, you can do lots of stuff in there... B)
Sarissi
I don't know about 10.0 OE, but in CE, the file manager - super user mode is missing. You have to create a symlink to kdesu konqueror (which is what is needed) for kde, anyways.
DaveQB
Just to add to this, you can also simply start konqueror from a root terminal ('su' in a term etc) and it will have root rights. So from that, you can obviously open any GUI program from a root terminal and you'll have root rights in it. HTH
