Drahcir
Those free ones can't install on a 2.6 kernel so you'll need to downgrade your kernel or purchase a key from Linuxant. :(
iphitus
2.4 really aint that bad tho, downgrade isnt the term to use to describe it.
mysticpain
Thank you for all the info guys. I found the hsf driver for my kernal at linuxant. I have 2.6.3-4mdk So I hope it will work. If this doesn't work I am going to take the advice of others and get an external modem.

bvc
doesn't recognize what exactly? /dev/modem? is the symlink there? what exactly have you done? did you purchase the driver or get the free? The free only does 14k. I haven't used them since they started charging $. Do you still ahve to run hsfconfig? Did you? Details!
mysticpain
I got the free version, it says not recognize /dev/modem.. I dowloaded the driver on my windows laptop and put it on floppy to install. I installed it using the GUI and tried to configure the modem and it says it is not supported by my system and tells me to check out linmodems.com. Maybe I installed it incorrectly?
