frosterrj
When I launch K3b, it never gets to the gui and always hangs with "checking for drives" in the bottom of the window. I have an external usb cdrw that is auto mounted, and I can browse media placed in the tray. Are there any other tools that I can use to burn ISO's? Thanks, R
mystified
eroaster will burn ISO's and someone told me that xcdroast will also burn them.
marcnino
I had the same problem once with K3B. It turned out I had a bad CD in the drive, and K3B hung on startup because of it. Make sure you don't have any media in the drive, and try again. If that doesn't work, try updating to the latest version... I'm using the latest version from Cooker with my el-cheapo external USB CD burner, and it works fine. Marc...
Gowator
remember K3B is just an interface. whatever is locking is likely to be a background task like a cdrecord -scanbus this might be done in a different place in eroaster or xcdroast etc :but it will lilely still be done with the same effect if you for instance have a bad cd in the drive. we might be able to sort out what is really- wrong although try other front ends by all means if you prefer
roland
At home since ML10.0, k3b take a long time to launch (around 1 or 2 mn), displaying the same message. See if it's really crashed or only long to launch.
