Guest Mipe
Hi. Can anybody help, please. I have an AMD 2600+, Nvidia2 motherboard A7N8X Deluxe, ATI Radeon 9600 Pro, 120 Gb Sata-harddisk. I try to install Mandrake 10.0 to partition E (13 Gb) Windows XP is in partition C. When I come to the "DrakX Partitioning Wizard", and I choose "Use existing Partitions", and move forward and choose hda6, It tries to format it but it hangs completely up. I can not move the mouse either. Rebooting is the only choice. What could I do to make the installprocess work? Edit: moved from Everything Linux by spinynorman
Gowator
I hear there is a bug in the DrakX part Wiz. You could create it in windows if you have Partition Magic or you could use a knoppix boot disk (or PClinuxOS) and then use qtparted to do the partitions then choose the use existing partitions option ... Ill check your mandrakemove thread now ...since you might be trying this :D
Guest Mipe
Thanks. I have partitioned it with Part.magic 8.0 I just read that the UB-mouse can be the one that does this hang up. I will try it know with another mouse. I´ll be back soon to report.
Guest Mipe
Ok. I changed the USB-mouse to PS/2-mouse. It helped a little bit. I do not have other USB-connections. Then I tried to install with commands: linux noapci nodma. These two things helped me a bit furher. I could install for about 5 minutes, then it hanged again. Could the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro be a problem when installing? Or is the problem with the SATA-drive? What do I try next?

DarkFoss
If you still have problems, try doing what I posted here it may be of some help. http://www.mandrakeusers.org/index.php?showtopic=13343 It worked for me and a few others. The big thing is disabling the cpu disconnect function in your bios, even after installing I freeze up right away if I enable it. Everything else I could enable after installation. Guest Mipe
Hi. I solved the problem. All I had to do was disable the Virus Warning in BIOS. So know I am a happy new Linux-user. Can anybody recommend a good Anti-Virus software for Mandrake 10? :D
Ixthusdan
Erm... Why do you think you need an av in linux? Nothing executes without root permission. You wouldn't give a virus permission to execute, would you?? :D
