liberforce
Hi everyone ! Here's my problem : I wanted to use gnomemeeting, and installed it (V1.0.2), but I have a problem at the sound setting in the wizard. It tells me ALSA is prefered if available, but i'm only proposed OSS and Quicknet, but no ALSA ! Ok, I tried OSS, even knowing I use the ALSA driver, just to see if it woks. What happens during the sound test, is that I can talk in the microphone, hear myself in the headphones when talking, but I don't hear mylself 4 seconds after as is the test ! I've investigated, and it seem that I can't record the microphone sound. Here's what I have done to find the problem cause : 1. I've checked my ALSA config - The alsa service is running - The sound card (sound blaster 128) is detected and the snd-ens1370 driver is used (it's an ALSA driver, the OSS one is ens1370) My modprobe.conf file (i'm running kernel 2.6.3-7) alias agpgart intel-agp alias sound-slot-0 snd-ens1370 options bttv radio=0 card=39 gbuffers=6 alias eth0 8139too install scsi_hostadapter /sbin/modprobe usb-storage; /bin/true install snd-ens1370 /sbin/modprobe --first-time --ignore-install snd-ens1370 && { /sbin/modprobe snd-pcm-oss; /bin/true; } install usb-interface /sbin/modprobe usb-uhci; /bin/true remove snd-ens1370 { /sbin/modprobe -r snd-pcm-oss; }; /sbin/modprobe -r --first-time --ignore-remove snd-ens1370 2. I've checked the write rights on the peripheral : [luis@liberforce luis]$ ll /dev/dsp lr-xr-xr-x 1 root root 9 mai 13 23:17 /dev/dsp -> sound/dsp [luis@liberforce luis]$ ll /dev/sound/dsp crw-rw---- 1 luis audio 14, 3 jan 1 1970 /dev/sound/dsp I'm the owner and have write access on /dev/sound/dsp, so it seems ok.... 3. I've tried to record myself using gnome-sound-recorder, but this one hangs when I click the "record" button, and I can't record anything ! [luis@liberforce luis]$ gnome-sound-recorder GConf audio sink not found, using osssink ** (gnome-sound-recorder:17684): WARNING **: Unrecoverable syntax error while parsing pipeline DEBUG: gstgconf: error parsing pipeline (null) ! audioconvert ! audio/x-raw-int,rate=22050,channels=1 ! wavenc name=enc pas d'element "null" ** ERROR **: Could not construct pipeline aborting... Aborted (core dumped) Now, I don't know where to look !!!!! It seems I have 2 problems : I can't record myself, and I can't have Gnomemeeting see that i'm using alsa, I don't know if the two problems are related. Here is my configuration : - Mandrake 10.1 (cooker) - Kernel 2.6.3-7 - Gnome 2.6 - Soundcard Soundblaster 128 If someone could help me, I woul be very grateful Thanks in advance ! Ixthusdan
I am not sure where to start, but cooker can be a little off at any given time! Have you checked for any updates to the software you are using?
liberforce
I've done a full update 3 days ago, no changes... A friend of mine suggested me that I could try recording through the "line in" input, to see if the problem is with the microphone input... Will try this tonight.
