linux shutsdown my computer

sounds like you got a hardware problem! Could just be a setting in the bios that needs changed but.....has the pc always done this or is this a new problem? Sounds like a watchdog warning and shutdown to me, just from what you have described. I had that on my old pc with beta/crap kernel watchdog support on an intel i810 chipset. If you have the kernel-source installed, in a terminal do

grep -ir "watchdog" /usr/src/linux/Documentation/*

for info, or google.

Open it up and clean your fan/heat sink assembly on the cpu. It's no doubt covered with dust.
