Paste on KDE shell

I would like to use ctrl-v to paste a text from the clipboard to a KDE (3.2) shell. I have assigned the shortcut but it doesn't seem to work. I know I couldl use the mouse (as actually I'm doing now) but I would prefer to use the keyboard. Any suggestions? Thanks.

not really a helpful reply but the whole ctrl+[v|c|x] thing is a windows relic that almost everybody who has computer experience has subconciously adopted.

unfortunately not every linux developer agree on how interaction with the clipboard should really be handled/implemented, and thus not every program will respect those keyboard shortcuts.

i have wasted your time, didn't i?

ciao!

ciao,

and thanks for your reply. It didn't waste my time. I fully agree with your opinions, even the "windows relic" behavior for copying and pasting using the keyboard. Above all, it is the last reminiscent of the past :-)) but also we should agree that it is quite comfortable if you use a laptop and keep often your hands on the keyboard...

Yeah and its actually not a bad key comination either ....

I think its actually a hangover that MS copied from Apple ... just to complicate it!

I wonder if you assigned it and saved the kde session ?

You might need to do it and log out with restore enabled then restart kde....

Just a suggestion ...

Actually, at work I have win2k and Unix through exceed - and sometimes when I have to do a lot of (non-regular) copy pasting, I just move the file over to the unix side, then do the editing, then move back to the win side (if I need to mail the file for instance..)..
