Cornellius
So I'm new in the linux world and decided to try Mandrake. I have mandrake since ver. 8.2, and I love. Since I was in windows before, this distro is easier to understand for me. Still, I have a problem. Right now I have Kernel 2.4. I've heard that 2.6.3, the last Kernel, had some security fixes. I really want the new Kernel, but there's so many versions and places where we can download it that I'm confused. What should I do ? Urpmi ? Can you help me ? P.S.: This is my first post here. This board looks nice ! B)
Steve Scrimpshire
If you are using 9.1, 9.2, or 10.0 CE right now, it is easy. Set up your urpmi souces to point to web sources only and do: urpmi kernel-2.6 (it will give you a bunch of choices). After you pick one, it'll probably tell you that you need module-init-tools or something. urpmi that, then try again. You can configure your urpmi sources here: http://urpmi.org/easyurpmi/index.php

Cornellius
http://www.mandrakesecure.net/en/kernelupdate.php SO I found a page where they tell us how to update the kernel. Now, I need to know what is the name of the new Kernel package. Something like : Kernel2-6-3mdk. I dunno how to get the name of the newest ver.
