jlc
:o This just looks to cool! http://wwws.sun.com/software/looking_glass...ss/details.html
arthur
yup, it's a cool desktop...but for what OS? Solaris?
phunni
It has been designed for Solaris and Linux. It does look very nice - but, I must admit that I think it will make for too cluttered a desktop to actually be useful...
jlc
Looks kind of like Aqua. If they bring this to Sun's Java Linux i might have to switch. :P Looks to purdy to pass up.
toxaq
I for one will be buying Suns desktop if it can drag and drop to a floppy without a user knowing what mounting is and if I can copy(Ctrl+C) in one program, close said program, and paste(Ctrl+V) into another program... Hopefully Sun can bring the professionality to this linux desktop that has been so sorely missing. Love the eye candy too! It's the sort of thing that sells to marketing fools (ie the guys (and girls) who spend most IT budgets). Keep it up Sun.
fissy
i think sun said they'll GPL it, so you won't even have to switch
evilmrt
great stuff...although the videos of Looking Glass really show what its like...if you didnt view them, you should...screenshots don't do Glass justice at all. Great that Sun is really pushing for some innovation like this in linuxland...makes me wonder what IBM has in store for us with the rumored "Blue Linux" distro they're working on! With Sun and IBM putting this stuff out, I really don't think Longhorn stands a chance.

banjo
I hope that it is fast enough to be useful. It is, after all, written in Java, which can be a bit slow on some apps. If it is fast enough, I think it looks like fun. Banjo (_)=='=~
