jasonstack
I am very new to Linux and am having a bit of trouble connecting to the internet. OK, here goes.... I have a Windows domain, and on my domain controller I have ADSL coming in and also a network card with the domains IP range 192.168.0.x. (I know a lot of you are cringing at the moment, I know I should run the adsl through a Linux box!). I installed Linux Mandrake 1.0 on an old Toshiba Satellite 320cdt and configured the network through linuxconf. I can ping my network from the linux machine and I can ping the linux machine from my network, so that suggests to me that I have got network connectivity, however, I cannot browse the internet. Please please please somebody help!!!!
Darkelve
This is just a lucky guess really, but perphaps you have to specify a proxy server? Also, what browser are you using?
mtweidmann
If your not using a proxy server you might have to specify a internet gateway. You'll normally have to d this if the gateway isn't at the same address of the DHCP server (the thing handing out IP addresses) or if you're manually assigning IP addresses. For instance we have one machine on our network with a static IP address, so when we configured it we had to specify the address of the ADSL router as the gateway. I would suggest re-running the network set up from Mandrake Control Centre, and trying to specify the gateway address manually. I haven't tried 10 yet but in 9.2 its simply a matter of pressing the button marked "Configure Internet Access".
