hbob
Installed Mandrake 9.2 downloaded from FTP server. Install and config. went great, been running for three maybe four months now, still learning. Went to boot up pc and motherboard ran normal boot, the system failed to boot the loader I'm using lilo, what I got was 99999 99999 999 9999 999999999 over and over again, and no command options. Ran fdisk/mbr and was able to boot to windows on first drive then went to reinstall / upgrade to 10. cooker I had not done so yet. I recieved a warning about corrupted files and I agreed and was in the install sreen for new install, at the partition section I was only offered 7. something gigs. of a 20 gig. hard drive ( I have two drives ) Mandrake 9.2 is on hdb1. Question is can I recover the other half of my drive ?
Ixthusdan
I am not sure where you are at in the process. Do you have a functioning system with linux? Windex? What files were corrupted, and to what did you agree?? Pleas clarify . B)
scoopy
I'm using lilo, what I got was99999 99999 999 9999 999999999 over and over again, and no command options. There were a few that had that 9's problem and there was a fix somewhere. Ran fdisk/mbr ooops, nevermind... (too late for fix) Question is can I recover the other half of my drive ? As Ix requested... clarify your current situation.
AussieJohn
When you get all 9's covering your screen it usually means your MBR has been corrupted by LILO and the only way to fix it its to clear the MBR. After that has been done using a windows boot up floppy and typing in at the A:> prompt the following :- fdisk /mbr click on enter. (Important to note the space between k and the /) you can then reinstall LILO. Cheers
