zero0w
No money is enough to make monopoly legal and acceptable for the public interest.
Guest anon
No Empire in the world lasts, they all fall sooner or later. So will M$. In a few years, Desktop linux will be everywhere. Its biggest growth will be not in " the rich west " but in third world Countries. M$ licenceing policies will actually help Linux grow, the more they charge for their OS the better. 400,000,000 is a lot of money, but how much would that country end up paying back in lienceing fees etc . Guest JaseP
If you've read one of the latest issues of Linux Journal, then you'd see the articles on improving international language support in Linux, particularly in India, where about 3 languages dominate... zero0w
And don't forget the GPLed TTF for Indian languages from the FSF India site.
ral
Well, we are now marketing low cost generic Linux PC's, so I really hope that the day of the Linux desktop has arrived, otherwise, this little venture is going to hurt. PC specs start at Duron 1100MHz, 256MB SDRAM, 20GB Hard Drives, 17" Monitors (I think 17" is mandatory for Linux OS's since they should run at not less than 1024 x 768 otherwise the desktop gets too cluttered) plus pheripherals. Prices should start at about $350 with a Linux OEM pack. Although at present HD prices are $5-10 higher than they were last month so that might have ot move up a bit. DragonMage
Well, as long as most of everything or configurations are done right out of the box, it should be no problem. Maybe add a big icon in the desktop linking to the manuals with addition of a paper readme. The user part is going to be a bit of a problem (since most of the preconfigured windows usually don't have user/password feature on). I mean $350 bux for a 1ghz computer with 17 inch monitor is a good deal.. usually it's the monitor that kinda jack up the price. (1/3 of the total price usually). ral
Well, for that price the monitor will only be a Proview monitor.
DOlson
Come on! Monopoly isn't that bad. If LGP ported it to Linux, I'd buy it.
DragonMage
Hmm.. yeah. monopoly has a pretty simplistic rule, and the prices for the lands, houses and hotels are way way below the price for 21st century, but the game itself is actually pretty good. Oh you mean that kind of monopoly... never mind
