WUSB 11 and configuration issues

I have a WUSB 11 V2.6 instant network device and cannot seem to get it to work. I have read the postings dealing with this issue and tried to follow the directions verbatim with no avail. I am using MDK 9.2. I have installed the wireless tool package and the USB view package. I have downloaded at76c503a.tar.gz. I cannot seem to get through the Make and Make install steps without two errors and I really do not understand symlinks (new to Linux). Would someone be able to provide a step by step procedure for doing this? Couple of issues that I found; in lib/modules, I have two directories one is 2.4.22-10mdk and the other is 2.4.22-1mt. Could this be the problem? :wall:

Okay after much trouble I was able to get the WUSB11 working. Now, two more issues that maybe someone could help with.

First: The machine takes 3-4 times to boot and from the bootup info, it seems to hang at the detecting new hardware prompt. This is a portion of the dmsg where it looks like the error might occur.

The second item is about wep key for the device. I read the iwconfig man and it looks as though it does not support 128 bit encryption (26 character key). I only saw 64 bit which is 10 character in the following form xxxx-xxxx-xx. Is this known? The unit would only work when I took encryption off or disabled the key. Again thanks for your help.
