  1. That why I posted it...I new someone would have an answer. Thanks for the info. I will submit it. Thanks.
  2. ansariwn, Thanks for the info. I got Klaptop working perfectly now! The only dofference is that I am using 10.1 CE and the ACPI RPMs are of a different version. But it worked fine. Good job!
  3. Yes. I found it. It worked perfectly for me too. Quote below for thread purposes: Unless someone can explain differently, all the options above should be set and install by default with Klaptop. It could be one less thing to write about in the forums and maybe one more Windoze convert along the way. Any way this one is solved!
  4. When changing you ESSID using IWCONFIG, do not use the quotes (assuming). You should be able to set all the paremeters specific to your AP using the command. Please also read the Man pages. In case you don't know type MAN IWCONFIG in terminal. This will give you all the info you would want on IWCONFIG.
  5. On the tray to the right on the bottom, do you have an icon that looks like two plugs disconnected? If you do, right click and select "connect eth0" (or whatever device is there). It take a few seconds but you should see the icon change state and appear connected. For what ever reason, when 10.1 starts, it doesn't start connected by default and you have to manually start it. If this doesn't work, then in MCC remove all connections and reinstall and set up all parameters (keys, etc.) Then repeat the process.
  6. Not sure were to post this: I have discovered what I believe is a bug with Klaptop in 10.1 CE. I have tried to configure it to work properly but cannot get it to properly report the staus of the battery or plug. This is on a compaq presario laptop 1210US. The battery works fine, the application will not report a battery even exists. The power meters are also inop. There is a button to start the service, but it also has no effect. [moved from Hardware by spinynorman - but don't worry about it :)]
  7. Well, I was able to fix this issue myself. For those who wish to know please read on. I would first like to say I was suprised to see that I had 22 reads up to this point and no one replied and I would like to really know why. Is this subject that difficult or am I doing something wrong? To fix the issue all I did was remove both my network devices in MCC and add new in MCC. I selected wireless as type, and added my essid info and encryption key info and checked the link. It was the same as before, linked up. In conclusion, I would gather that there was a conflict between my NIC card which I do not use and my Orinoco Gold card, which I do use. Mandrake must of somehow automatically set up the NIC card (or I did it without knowing). Any way, it works and I hope this may help someone with this situation in the future.
  8. I am running a compaq presario laptop with and AMD Duron 850 processor with 10.0 CE download version(check sum verified), 384 meg of RAM, Orinoco gold card pcmia to a Linksys 4 port router version 4 connected to a cable modem both of which are set up as DHCP. Router handles the network computers DHCPs. I have configured the gold card as an Lucent wavelan (autodetected). Using the Orinoco_cs driver. I have tried to configure the card with no success with MCC. Installed wireless tools and configured via IWCONFIG. I added my ESSID, Nickname, and Encryp Key. It all took and I am linked up, 52/93. The problem is that I cannot connect to the internet or do anything with the internet or network. I can ping myself but cannot ping the router or other computers on the network. I do not see the computer through the router admin page either. I have monitored the network in MCC under monitoring connections and it only shows recieving files, I am not sending any. When I go to Internet connections, it say testing LAN and just hangs there. In monitoring connections, when I select connect to internet, it says it cannot and to check my settings in Internet connections. So I am lost and need help. Moved from Installation to networking by Ixthusdan
  9. Do you have another network device attached, such as a wireless device? If you do, Linux is trying to start it. I found that if I disable ModProbe then it will not hang. You may have to get it working first by using the std interface (Not GUI). Anyone else have additional info to get him in?
  10. Worked as advertised....Thanks for the help folks.
  11. I am trying to install the Nvida driver per instructions and the installer keeps telling me it appears that I have X running. Iknow startx will start it, How do I stop it? I have tryed key command ctr-alt-esc, Alt-esc, ctr-esc, running in non-fsb, and failsafe with the same error. I am running 10 community with KDE 3.0. Thanks.
  12. I tried the dutch mirror. Seems to be the only one that works. Thanks for the info.
  13. I have downloaded and installed Mandrake community 10.0. When I go to MCC and select Software management. Then select software update, Mandrake asks to contact Mandfraksoft website to get mirrors list. I say okay to this. I have tried all three mirrors in the US and got the same error that follows: Unable to add media retrieving failed; curl failed; exited with 9 or signal 0 retrieval of source hdlist (or synthesis) failed No hdlist file found for medium "Update_source" Poblem reading sythesisfile or medium "Update_source" Checksums are fine. Computer is online with network (Using it now) What gives
  14. Ditto.....Have not been able to resolve this!
  15. Yes, I agree, it does have something to do with USB. I really could care less about the extra keys. I just want to get it working. In USB view, it shows up red, which means it has no driver. The thing I don't understand is why it works sometimes and other times no usb stuff works. How can I have it save a certain setup or only use a specific driver once I figure out which ones work? Something is dynamically changing everytime I restart. Harddrake is off. If I turn it on, the system hangs at finding new hardware.
