Nightcreeper
I just installed Linux Mandrake 9.1 on my PowerEdge 400sc Server. I had to use the install mode as recommended by the handbook (OS Install Mode limits my memory to 256MB) to install Linux. After installation, I cannot turn install mode off because linux will not boot. I do not know if it is a problem with 1GB of RAM or the Dual Channel Configuration. Please Help. Thanks. pmpatrick
I'm not sure hw you did the install but 9.1 had a bug in the installer for configurations with 1GB of ram or more. The solution was to hit F1 at the install screen and type "linux vga=0" at the prompt. Here's a link to the errata: http://www.mandrakelinux.com/en/91errata.php3
Nightcreeper
Linux is up and running on my machine, but if I tell the BIOS to expose the full 1GB of RAM, linux will act as it says in the errata report about loading, but it IS installed and running on 256MB (That is what the BIOS limits it to for OS install Mode). I just can't take it off OS Install Mode. Do you think that would be fixed in 9.2?
liquidzoo
I can tell you with confidence that I am running ML 9.2 on my desktop machine with 1 gig of ram and no problems what so ever. I would suggest giving 9.2 a try and see if it works better for you.

aRTee
I had 9.1 running with 1GB of ram no problem, but just using 896MB (installed with 512MB, later upgraded mem). Now installed 9.2 with 1GB, installed automatically took -up4GB version of the kernel, and no problem, all works fine.
