ncb
Hi, i'm wondering about eggdrops security....Does anyone know if there are exploits for eggdrop irc bots, also any ways they can be attacked? If you care to explain, please do. We're trying to set them up in our channel but don't want to leave them as the only means if they won't be stable to hold ops. Thanks! illogic-al
as with anything else nothin's totally secure. far as i know though (i set up a bot for us in #musb) Eggdrop only dies if some modules you loaded messes up stuff. The default eggdrop is pretty secure and can be made even harder by wafting through the jungle that is its config file.
Ronin
Been running eggys for a couple of years now and the only stability issue you usually have to worry about is the stability of the box its on. As for attacks, of course there are. If its on line it can be hit in some form or another. But unless you tick someone off or have a channel that someone really wants attacks are pretty rare. If you head over to www.egghelp.org they have an excellent tutorial on setting them up as well as hundreds of scripts for eggdrops.
