Hi,

:help:

While browsing through my home directory I notice in /.thumbnails/normal directory there are approximately 3500 png files totaling 13MB.

Where did these come from and is it safe to delete them?

Are there any other directories that accumulate files endlessly that need to be emptied periodically?

TIA

Well I checked mine and I have about the same amount.  By looking at it, it looks like what my browser is caching.  Can't be sure tho.

mystified,

Love your Ozzy quote. I have a keychain with the same exact thing on it. Haven't carried it in

years, and now is the time I really should carry it.

lol

the .thumbnail dir is used by the DE's file browser. In my case gnome/nautilus. Not sure about kde/konq. Why? I haven't a clue other than the obvious (speed). I clear mine several times a week.

You made me check mine,

3428 items. 14.8MB !!!

Time for a clear out eh?

Hi,

Just wanted to pass on some additional information that I've come across.

These were created by browsing with konqueror in Icon View. Each image you see in this view mode makes a thumbnail. Use konqueror in Detailed list View mode to avoid caching them.
