  1. I believe the internal wireless is supported via ndiswrapper. As root in the terminal run the command lspci & if you see the following

    0000:02:02.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM94306 802.11g (rev 03)

you can use your windows driver (bcmwl5a.inf) along with ndiswrapper. I suggest that you search for 'bcmwl5a' which should help I also came across this link http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawi...hp/Installation which will enlighten you further. Any problems after that then please post...

As for your Cisco card - not sure myself

  2. Hey, not a guru by any means but I noticed straight away that you have

    hosts allow = 192.168.1.100 192.168.1.103 127.

is this a typo or have you missed the rest of the 127. > 0.0.1? I would also create the same named user on both PC's ie: user/Vista user/Mandy. What errors are you getting? Can you ping both ways? more details may help :)

Also - Have you tried webmin http://www.webmin.com/ (urpmi webmin) & from Konqueror smb://vista-ip

  3. funny enough I updated Firefox yesterday & only Firefox. When I restarted thunderbird I had the exact same error. Googling only brought a few ideas which I tried with no luck (deleting the cert8.db file from within the profile seemed the most appropiate of the suggestions - which did not help). After messing around for a couple of hours I decided to d/l Thunderbird 2.0 beta & try with that. Guess what after unpacking the tar in my home folder & running ./thunderbird it located my profile updated a few addons & then opened up without errors. I only use SSL with Gmail so I tried to send-receive with Gmail & all is working (even got GB dictionary working!!) My guess is that Mozilla have changed something in Firefox 1.5.0.10 & this will be corrected with the next thunderbird update - my guess anyways...

So maybe give the beta a go for now?

  4. or .... in a terminal type kcontrol which will get you to the 'KDE Control Center'

or, at least in mdv207, type 'kcmshell componentchooser' to get directly to the Component Chooser.

:P oh just so many choices :P

  5. just butting in ere' until artee continues - yes I believe he does mean driver. So you use the spca5xx module ok. When you boot into your new kernel can you do a

    lsmod

as root in the CLI (Terminal) & see if the spca5xx is listed. If it is try a

    rmmod spca5xx

    (which will unload it) then

    insmod spca5xx

(which will reload it) & see how you go from there. If the spca5xx module isn't listed just do a

    insmod spca5xx

Unfortuately I use 'pwc' so I can't be precise but see how you go..

  6. What I normally do first is rename the /etc/asound.state then reboot (tried just relogging in but this didn't work for me). Once logged in a new asound.state should be auto generated & I then have sound. The only time this happens to me is when my system freezes up & I have to switch the power off/on.

  7. Yeah good point! I run a dual monitor setup (seperate desktops) & the screenie I posted is the secondary one. Don't really like icons, folders, files all over the desktop (we have a file system - so file them :) ) Anyway... it's Mandriva 2007 - KDE 3.5.4 - superkaramba - taskbar hidden & when visible the icons fill the blank squares at the top..

  8. Hi,

Lokking at your ifcfg-wlan0 file you don't seem to have 'GATEWAY=192.168.x.1' but instead you have 'NETWORK=192.168.x.0' Maybe! try hashing out the '#NETWORK=192.168.x.0' & beneath that add 'GATEWAY=192.168.x.1' the restart your wlan0 & see how that goes...
