  1. Well, your tutorial seems to be much longer, and shows how to rebuild rpm's... Yes, which is the correct way of doing it. If you recompile your kernel, update your kernel, or use Cooker, or a distro that isn't listed on NVidia's site, you WILL HAVE TO RECOMPILE THE DRIVER. Period. Might just as well do it the right way, the first time, every time.
  2. Doesn't make any sense why you wouldn't just use Loki Update.... It works MUCH easier... And you can check updates for many games at once... Comes with the game... Look at it...

    Holy Wars

vim or gvim for coding and general config file editing.
  4. vim or gvim for me. If I want to do some coding, I don't want to be distracted by the "features" of my editor.
  5. I coulda swore I wrote this tutorial already. Oh wait, yeah, I did: http://mdkxp.by-a.com/htm/tutorials/nvidiacli.php
  6. Note that I have a tutorial on installing the latest version of Gaim for Mandrake and configuring an MSN account. Check my site for details.
  7. Okay, this is my LAST post here... Freecurve IS the equivalent of Bluecurve. You are comparing RED HAT features to MANDRAKE features... Bluecurve is just a theme, and Freecurve is the SAME THEME. It applies to all Qt, GTK, and GTK2 applications, therefore creating a unified look. That's the ENTIRE point of Bluecurve.
  8. Hey buddy. You left IRC, so I went to my last resort... And I posted instead of PMing you because maybe someone else will benefit from this. Here are two RPMs you may like: http://mdkextras.by-a.com/gnomesword-0.7.5-1.i686.rpm http://mdkextras.by-a.com/sword-1.5.4-1.i686.rpm Alternate, slower, mirror here: http://aslan.no-ip.com/~dana/rpms/gnomeswo....7.5-1.i686.rpm http://aslan.no-ip.com/~dana/rpms/sword-1.....5.4-1.i686.rpm Note that there are no pretty icons in your Mandrake menus because I don't know how to fix those problems. If Mandrake would just use a standard menu, it'd all be fine. Anyhow, just run "gnomesword" and whatnot like you normally would. I don't know what you meant that no Mandrake users could compile GnomeSword... There must be something wrong with their computers or something. Either that, or they don't know anything about C/C++ and compiling software. In any case, no, I am not back, but I figured since you weren't in the channel, and all that, and others may benefit, I'd post it here. Time for bed.

    I really need help

No problem. See what happens when you step away from the forums? You get things done that ultimately helps out the people on the forums. :) Take care!

    I really need help

Gee, funny thing, I just wrote a Java tutorial and some guys submitted tutorials for Razer Boomslangs and Windows networking... It's like we read your mind or something... The tutorials will be online tonight at midnight, EST. Hope they help you.
  11. Did you read the comments they posted, and compare them with mine? I don't think either of us was any more "rough" than the other. I wasn't aiming for that. I was simply pointing out that I hardly consider my "tests" to be "blind."
  12. I'm just pointing out what category it should be under. No need to get your knickers in a knot. I agree, he is right by the way, this should be moved. Umm... It has been...

  14. No, it's called being a musician and knowing how music should sound. It's called not using shit speakers, but quality stuff such as Cambridge SoundWorks or Klipsch ProMedia. It's called, I LIKE BASS AND TREBLE CONTROLS. It's called I don't have wax in my ears. Whatever you call it, OSS sounds better. But if MIDI is a priority over PCM, then I guess ALSA is the way to go.
  15. Umm... I'm not an expert either, but I know what I'm doing... This program compiled just fine in Mandrake 8.2. My bet is that Mandrake screwed their C++ libraries over, since Blackbox is all screwed on me too.
  16. How does one stop this crap from showing up on the desktop after every reboot?
  17. Yeah, that's because I don't use GDM or KDM, and I don't really care on how to add them there. Mandrake does it all for you, and so I haven't bothered to learn that yet. I just make a .xinitrc file and put exec blackbox in it. Works great.
  18. You should probably install xmessage. Use an RPM. X11R6-contrib has it for me.
  19. Supermount is not meant for anyone. supermount -i disable The day Mandrake gets it right, I think it is gonna be great.
  20. Try including string.h instead of just string. Namespace std, last I checked, meant you didn't have to put the .h at the end... But then again, my teacher was Korean, so I couldn't understand her.
  21. Just look in the KDE Control Center, you'll figure it out. Here's my updated shot:
  22. You can change the names and icons for the Dynamic Desktop Icons in KDE if you go to: /usr/share/apps/kdesktop/Desktop/ as root and edit the properties that way. Works great here!
